The American Market by Todd English Set to Open in Times Square
A new food hall will open in the former New York Times building.
MIDTOWN, NY — Jared Kushner recently announced he’s bringing in renowned chef Todd English to create a new food hall in the former New York Times building, The New York Post reported.
The American Market by Todd English will be located at 229 W. 43 St. It’s set to open next summer.
“It’s a very, very special space and completes our vision to create a world-class entertainment, retail and dining destination in the heart of Times Square,” Kushner said to The New York Post.

Outstanding Hospitality Management Group signed a 11,970-square-foot lease at the location owned by Kushner Companies. According to The New York Post, the Real Estate Board of New York’s Spring 2016 Manhattan Retail Report said average ground-floor asking rents are at $2,363 per square foot in Times Square. No rents for this project were revealed.
English has numerous restaurants, such as Plaza Food Hall at the Plaza Hotel, Bonfire in New York and Boston, and Ember Room in New York. English also has his own cooking show on PBS called "Food Trip with Todd English."
