Castillo is accused of stabbing a 51-year-old man in the mezzanine level of the Broadway-Lafayette station on Jan. 28.

According to police, Castillo got into an argument with the 51-year-old before the stabbing.
As the victim was leaving the station, he was stabbed from behind.

The 51-year-old man was taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue for treatment.

In addition, Castillo is accused of trying to steal a woman's cellphone aboard a northbound F train at the Broadway-Lafayette station earlier in the day.

As the woman attempted to retrieve her cellphone, the suspect took out a knife and threatened to stab her.

The woman was eventually able to recover her cellphone and Castillo fled the station on foot.

Castillo was arrested on Feb. 4, prosecutors said.

“As alleged, Dariel Castillo committed two separate acts of violence against strangers just minutes apart, including a brutal stabbing,” District Attorney Alvin Bragg said. “Unprovoked, he allegedly repeatedly stabbed a man who simply attempted to enter a subway station. We take attacks in our transit system very seriously and our office will hold those accountable who undermine its safety.”
