"I have to thank everyone who sent me prayers and good will," the former mayor said.

Giuliani mentioned his family, President Donald Trump and hospital staff who treated him.

“It feels good to be back,” Giuliani added.

The former mayor had been in critical condition with the virus quickly overwhelming his body, requiring mechanical ventilation.

The former mayor's spokesman Ted Goodman told ABC Newsthat Giuliani suffers from restrictive airway disease which "adds complications to any respiratory illness."

Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Trump wished Giuliani a speedy recovery.

Giuliani served as the city's mayor from 1994 to 2001.

After his time in City Hall, Giuliani would later become President Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

Trump called Giuliani "a True Warrior, and the Best Mayor in the History of New York City, BY FAR," in a social media post.
