2-Alarm Fire In East River Tunnel Disrupts Train Service At Penn Station: FDNY

The FDNY responded to the two-alarm fire around 11:30 a.m.

NEW YORK CITY — Long Island Rail Road train service was diverted from Penn Station after an electrical fire in the East River Tunnels between Manhattan and Queens, according to the FDNY and reports.

The FDNY responded to the two-alarm fire around 11:30 a.m. at Penn Station.

Twenty-six units and around 84 firefighters and EMS personnel responded to the scene.

No injuries were reported from the incident.

As of 1 p.m., train service is temporarily suspended between Jamaica and Penn Station in both directions.

Trains on the Port Jefferson and Babylon branches are being rerouted to Grand Central.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
