NEW YORK CITY — Harvey Weinstein third sex crime retrial ended in a mistrial on Friday.
This was the latest retrial for the disgraced movie mogul in connection to sexual assault charges in New York.
Jurors sent a note to Judge Curtis Farber on Friday saying they could not unanimously come to a verdict on whether Weinstein raped former actor Jessica Mann in a Manhattan hotel in 2013.
Nearly a year ago, in June 2025, a jury issued a split verdict. The jury found Weinstein guilty of sexually assaulting one woman but acquitted the former movie mogul of another sex charge.
Judge Curtis Farber at the time declared a mistrial on a final charge against Weinstein after the jury foreman refused to join the deliberations.
Farber on Friday told jurors he saw "no reason to go any further," according to NBC News.
Weinstein had pleaded not guilty to the third degree rape charge.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg in a statement said his office would “consider our next steps in consultation with Ms. Mann.”
“While we are disappointed that the proceedings ended with a mistrial, we deeply respect the jury system, and sincerely thank all the jurors for their time and dedication,” Bragg said.
Weinstein was first tried in 2020 and was convicted of raping Mann and sexually assaulting another woman. The New York Court of Appeals overturned the conviction in 2024.
Weinstein has maintained he is innocent throughout the years.
The former movie mogul is also serving a 16-year sentence in California.
A hearing is set for June 24 to decide whether prosecutors will move forward to go to a fourth trial.
