NEW YORK CITY — Three people have been arrested after their involvement in a "speed running" social media stunt where they allegedly ransacked a Church of Scientology location in Midtown earlier this month.
Jaelen Dinkens, 19, and Mohammed Amolegbe, 21, are facing hate crimes and have also been charged with burglary, criminal mischief and assault.
Another individual, Tashaun Simms, 28, has been charged with obstructing governmental administration and tampering with physical evidence in connection with the May 2 incident.
Around 30 people are accused of barging through a side door of the Church of Scientology Midtown location, located on 46th Street.
Police released surveillance footage of the incident showing the group run into the building. The incident resulted in $10,000 worth of damages and a 30-year-old male employee suffered injuries to his leg.
The incident seems to be inspired by a social “speed running” social media trend at Church of Scientology centers in the U.S.
Police are still searching for the remaining suspects involved.
