NEW YORK CITY — A body was found floating in the East River near a Lower Manhattan pier Monday morning, police said.
A man's body was found in the water near Pier 11 and South Street around 7 a.m.
The victim was removed from the water and pronounced dead.
The city's medical examiner will determine the official cause of death.
It is not known how long the man had been in the water or what led up to the incident.
The man's identity has not been released yet.
