NEW YORK CITY — New York City and the MTA is celebrating the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with country-inspired train wraps on a number of subway trains.
The train wraps will represent all 48 countries participating in this year's tournament.
The first World Cup branded trains rolled out on the R line featuring the flags of Brazil and Morocco.
No. 1 trains will feature the flags of Senegal and France.
The initiative was developed by the FIFA World Cup 2026 NYNJ Host Committee alongside the MTA and the Mayor's Office.
The designs were created by a New York City-based studio, Burn & Broad.
Additional wrapped trains are expected to roll out as the tournament begins.
"When a train wrapped in the colors of Senegal pulls into Harlem, or a subway car carrying Morocco’s flag rolls through Astoria, it tells a story about who we are as New Yorkers,” Mayor Zohran Mamdani said.
