National Alzheimer's Awareness Month is officially recognized in November; however, one Connecticut homecare company is committed to spreading the word about this progressive and debilitating illness that causes memory loss and impairs other cognitive abilities, throughout the summer. Specifically, Assisted Living Home Care Services, a 30-year-old, family-owned, eldercare agency in Cheshire, Westport and Woodstock, today announced that it will be hosting an exciting night of fundraising for the Alzheimer's Association-Connecticut Chapter on Friday, August 28, 2026 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Kinsmen Brewing Company in Milldale, Connecticut featuring delicious food, raffle prizes and live musical entertainment by NYC-based Shake, Rattle & Roll Pianos and its world-famous "Dueling Pianos" Show.
"Having provided senior care for hundreds of Connecticut families for thirty years, we know that cognitive decline associated with Alzheimer's disease and dementia is one of the primary concerns for our senior clients and their families," said Mario D'Aquila, MBA, chief operating officer at Assisted Living Home Care Services. "As a company, we present a unified front to raise awareness and find a cure- not just during November, but all year long."
According to the 2025 Connecticut Healthy Aging Report, there are 238,962 seniors in the state living with Alzheimer's disease. Alzheimer's is the most common cause of dementia, a general term for memory loss and other cognitive abilities serious enough to interfere with daily life. Alzheimer's disease accounts for 60-80% of dementia cases. Alzheimer's is a progressive disease, where dementia symptoms gradually worsen over several years. In its early stages, memory loss is mild, but with late-stage Alzheimer's, individuals lose the ability to carry on a conversation and respond to their environment. On average, a person with Alzheimer's lives four to eight years after diagnosis but can live as long as 20 years, depending on other factors.
Assisted Living Home Care Services trains its caregivers to provide services for seniors with memory difficulties, including a special dementia care certification program, an initial orientation that includes three hours of training specifically tailored to Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, and other forms of dementia, as well as frequent ongoing training throughout the year.
Besides delivering exceptional care to the growing Alzheimer's and dementia population across the state, Assisted Living Home Care Services has named the Alzheimer's Association-Connecticut Chapter as the leading beneficiary for all its charitable company activities.

D'Aquila notes that attendees of its family-friendly fundraiser on August 28th will enjoy delicious pizza and salad, a silent auction and special entertainment by Shake, Rattle and Roll Pianos, which is part concert, part cabaret, part comedy and all fun!The group provides an all-request, rock-and-roll party where guests choose the playlist from a variety of past and present performers. Two top piano entertainers then mix music and audience integration in a sing-a-long, laugh-along and dance-along.
