Torrington Restaurant Raises Over $3,000 for Tunnel to Towers Foundation

Memorial Day, Flag Day and Independence Day…each of these holidays are powerful reminders of both service and sacrifice in America's history. One family-owned, Connecticut restaurant created extra fanfare for these milestones by hosting an original fundraising program to benefit the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a national charity which helps military families secure mortgage-free homes. Specifically, The Store Bar & Grill in Torrington, today announced that it successfully raised $3,010 through its Second Annual Charity Chicken Wingfest for the patriotic nonprofit organization by donating $1 for every dozen of wings sold from Memorial Day through September 11, 2026. The Charity Chicken Wingfest coincided with The Store Bar & Grill's three-year business anniversary.

"We could not have had such a successful fundraising campaign for this important charity without the help of our regular customers, area businesses and generous community spirit," said Dena Franks, co-owner of The Store Bar & Grill."Some local organizations even donated additional sums of money to the cause, including the Beacon of Light Animal Rescue in New Hartford, which matched our total amount raised dollar for dollar."

Franks created the Charity Chicken Wingfest based on the popularity of chicken wings across the nation and her family's connection to the military as several members served in previous wars with some losing their lives in the call of duty.

"We have always strongly supported the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and its many activities, having family that served in multiple areas of the military," adds Megan Keefe, co-founder of Beacon of Light Animal Rescue."What's more, as an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, I have had several ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary War back in the day.We are happy to share our patriotic support of our country and this nonprofit."
