PEAKING: Psychedelics and the Pursuit of Happiness, a new documentary from 10-time Emmy Award-winning director Jordan Kronick, will open in New York on October 8 at Village East by Angelika.
The film takes viewers inside actual psychedelic experiences as they unfold, following people exploring psychedelics in connection with trauma, addiction, brain injuries and other major life challenges. Rather than approaching the subject only through interviews or commentary, PEAKING brings cameras into dosing rooms and retreat settings, then follows participants beyond the experience itself.
The documentary explores substances including psilocybin, LSD, MDMA, ibogaine, ayahuasca and other psychedelics, while also featuring perspectives from researchers and experts including MAPS founder Rick Doblin and neuroscientist Robin Carhart-Harris.
Among the people featured in the film are former NHL players Daniel Carcillo and Stephen Johns, military veterans Jesse Gould, Thomas Wyatt and Brian Hawkins, and other participants who share their personal experiences with trauma, addiction, recovery and healing.
The New York opening takes place Wednesday, October 8 at 7 p.m. at Village East by Angelika in Manhattan. Additional screenings continue October 8 and 9.
