3. NYPD Sergeant Posed As ICE Agent, Prosecutors Say (patch.com) — A former NYPD sergeant from Queens admitted in federal court to impersonating an ICE official and threatening a New York family with immigration enforcement if they did not report to a local ICE office. 4. Oct. 5: Fall OCI Featuring Private Sector Employers – Bidding for Week 6 Closes (3Ls, Tax LLMs) (nyu.edu) — Law students in New York should know that bidding for Week 6 of Fall OCI closes Monday night, October 5, ahead of interviews later this month with firms including Mendes & Mount LLP in New York City. The schedule includes key dates for interview notifications, cancellations, and open sign-ups, and students are urged to contact NYU career staff with any questions.
5. Steuben County Legislature Calls for Two-Year Delay of Federal SNAP Cost Shifts • The KEUKA SUN (keukasun.com) — Steuben County lawmakers are urging Congress to delay new federal SNAP cost shifts that could add more than $1.3 billion a year to New York State and county budgets, including outside New York City. Because counties administer SNAP under state rules, officials warn the change could strain local property taxpayers and services. They want a two-year pause so New York and Congress can craft a more sustainable funding plan.
