NEW YORK CITY— A Manhattan neurologist faces charges of sexually abusing two patients during medical appointments, allegedly touching them over their clothing under the guise of giving massages, prosecutors announced.
Tariq Lamki, 51, was indicted in New York State Supreme Court on two counts each of first-degree sexual abuse, forcible touching and third-degree sexual abuse, according to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg Jr.
The allegations involve two appointments at 14th Street Medical Arts, an independent medical practice near Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village.
Prosecutors allege Lamki sexually abused one patient on Aug. 25 and another on Sept. 2.
In both cases, the patients lay on an examination table inside a closed-door room while Lamki allegedly touched them over their clothing under thepretense of giving them massages.
"A doctor's appointment should never end in sexual abuse," Bragg said.
Bragg urged anyone who believes a doctor sexually assaulted them to contact the Manhattan District Attorney's Office Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Bureau at 212-335-4308.
