NEW YORK CITY — Anna "Delvey" Sorokin didn't get a first-class ticket back to Germany — in fact, she never went back, according to reports.

The fake heiress depicted in the Netflix series "Inventing Anna" received a last-minute reprieve from her impending deportation Monday, Der Spiegel reported.

Sorokin refused to leave an immigration detention center Monday for a flight from New York to Frankurt, Germany, while her lawyers successfully halted the widely reported deportation, according to Der Spiegel. ICE officials had wanted to deport Sorokin for overstaying her visa, but her attorneys pointed out a deadline for the final decision hadn't yet expired, according to the report.

The last-minute save was also reported by the Daily Mail.

The deportation drama is only the latest wrinkle in Sorokin's story. Sorokin, 31, originally hails from Russia but settled in Germany with her modest family.

But when she arrived in New York City she fooled the city's upper crust into believing she was a German heiress named "Anna Delvey." Her high-flying lifestyle was documented in a New York Magazine story that showed how she lived in luxury hotels without paying bills, nearly received extravagant bank loans to start an art club, among other truth-is-stranger-than-fiction details.

The law caught up with Sorokin, who received a four-year sentence for grand larceny and other charges after a high-profile trial. But she was released early on good behavior in 2021 until ICE picked her up.

"Inventing Anna" brought Sorokin's story to even higher prominence, including a "Saturday Night Live" parody.
