Art House Cinema Week Offering 5K Free Tickets To New Yorkers: Learn More

NEW YORK CITY — Beginning Friday, 30 movie theaters around New York City will participate in Art House Cinema Week.

The six-day event will offer special programming and discounts at participating movie theaters all in an effort to support small businesses and the film industry.

To celebrate Art House Cinema Week, the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment is giving away 5,000 free movie tickets for qualifying New Yorkers.

City teachers, CUNY students, U.S. active-duty military personnel and veterans, people with disabilities, SNAP/EBT cardholders and families registered with the nonprofit Cool Culture are all eligible

Each movie theater will offer different promotion, programming and discounts, but some notable ones include:

• 50% off tickets (March 23–26) for members at Angelika theaters
• Free large popcorn with new Free Angelika theater memberships
• Free popcorn at Cinema Village
• BOGO tickets at Nitehawk Cinemas
• Discount pricing for all programming (excluding special events) March 20-26 at the Film Forum. Also, two free extra months on all new memberships purchased during Cinema Week
• DCTV’s Firehouse Cinema will be screening a series of subway-themed films titled “Built to Move: NYC Subway on Film Series”
