Art Times

June is a great month to celebrate the arts in the city from award winning artists that grace the city with their art such as V. Borchert.

The month of June marks the beginning of the Summer season which is the onset of a wonderful number of festivities, exhibits and events taking over the city. Part of this wonderful celebration is the commemoration of the arts where artists grace the city with their contribution of their beautiful art via art displays and art exhibits and happenings. Noted artist, Vian Borchert, a highly acclaimed expressionist artist whose work has been displayed in numerous exhibitions across the US and internationally in prestigious museums and galleries located in key cities such as NYC, LA, DC, London, and Berlin is one of these artists. Borchert's talent and unique approach to expressionism have garnered critical acclaim and earned her a reputation as one of the most notable artists in her field. This past Weekend, Vian Borchert's artwork titled "Spectrum" was in a large digital billboard display in Times Square on Broadway. Borchert stated, "Spectrum is one of my favorite paintings and seeing it large in Times Square on Broadway makes me feel proud along with a sense of accomplishment. In this painting, I aimed to represent the spectrum and the gradation of the rainbow colors with an intent to capture the colors of a sunset through my abstracted modern aesthetics." "Spectrum" is a painting that has also been featured in numerous well regarded publications both nationally within the US and internationally. The painting embodies Borchert' quintessential painterly touch of strong brush strokes and bold colors mélanging together to create a modern masterpiece.

Beyond Times Square, in the Lower East Side, Borchert currently has her latest paintings of a "Lemon Sky" series in the group exhibition titled "Lemon Sky" at Lichtundfire gallery with concept by Priska Juschka . The exhibition celebrates the Summer's lemon sky highlighting the color yellow in its glory which is presented masterfully and eloquently in the works of the accomplished and acclaimed artists who are part of this exhibition.

For Borchert, an artist who is also an award winning poet, she had decided to accompany each painting of hers with a haiku poem to capture its core meaning in her signature poetic and lyrical take to the arts.

Borchert further explains about her "Lemon Sky" paintings which are debuted at Lichtundfire gallery throughout the month of June, that she wanted to "capture the color yellow and specifically a lemon skyscape in various hues through an abstract form. The abstract color-fields of different yellows mingling with the blues of the sky and sea allude to hints of sunrises and sunsets along with momentary light. Clouds, subtle ripples and waves within the lemon skies and its surroundings are presented in these abstract paintings. The artwork is rendered in a minimal painterly touch with the intention of capturing soft accents of light and its glory."

The artwork is available at the gallery. The "Lemon Sky" group exhibition is ongoing and continues till June 24.

There will be a reception this Thursday, June 15, 6-8 PM celebrating the EARLY SUMMER SOLSTICE CELEBRATION concurrent with LES NIGHT/LES THIRD THURSDAYS GALLERY EVENING.
