Axl Rose Accused Of 'Rage-Filled' 1989 Sexual Assault In Lawsuit
Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose is being accused of violently sexually assaulting a former model in his New York City hotel suite in 1989.
NEW YORK CITY — A former model has filed a lawsuit accusing Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose of violently sexually assaulting her in his Central Park West hotel room in 1989, according to a lawsuit shared in full by Rolling Stone.
In the lawsuit, former Penthouse model Sheila Kennedy said she met Rose at a nightclub in New York when she was 26 years old. Rose then invited Kennedy to a party at his hotel room, where he gave guests cocaine and alcohol before he "pushed Kennedy against the wall and kissed her," the lawsuit said.
"Kennedy found Rose attractive and did not mind this encounter. She was open to sleeping with him if things progressed," according to the lawsuit. "However, she says she did not consent to the alleged sexual encounter with Rose that would happen later that evening."

That night, Kennedy witnessed Rose have "aggressive" sex with another model while "encouraging group sex," prompting Kennedy to leave the room, according to the lawsuit.
"Suddenly, Kennedy heard objects being thrown and the sound of glass shattering," the suit continued. "She also heard Rose screaming at the model, saying: 'You’re a f***ing whore. Get the f*** out of here!'"

Kennedy followed David Andrew "Riki" Rachtman, who was staying in Rose's suite, into Rachtman's bedroom, after which Rose followed Kennedy and asked "What the f*** are you doing back here?" according to the suit.
"Rose’s demeanor and words terrified Kennedy," the lawsuit continued. "He was furious, and she did not know what he might do in this state. Rose loomed threateningly over Kennedy, blocking her exit from Rachtman’s bedroom."
Rose then grabbed Kennedy by her robe, knocked her to the floor in the hallway, grabbed her by the hair, and dragged her across the suite back to his bedroom, according to the lawsuit.
In his bedroom, Rose threw Kennedy to the floor and then onto his bed, face down and on her stomach before tying her hands behind her back with pantyhose, the lawsuit alleged.
Rose then sexually assaulted Kennedy, according to the lawsuit.
"She felt she had no escape or exit ... She believed Rose would physically attack her, or worse, if she said no or attempted to push him away," the lawsuit said. "She understood that the safest thing to do was to lie in bed and wait for Rose to finish assaulting her."
The lawsuit states that Kennedy's ordeal has left her with "lifelong emotional, physical, psychological, and financial impacts" including anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic symptoms which have impacted her wellbeing and career.
The suit listed assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and gender-motivated violence as its causes of action.
Kennedy is demanding a jury trial and noted that specific damages will be determined in court.
Kennedy filed the lawsuit under New York's Adult Survivors Act, which created a year-long suspension of the usual time limit to sue over an alleged sexual assault.
The Adult Survivors Act, which expires this week, has led to more than 2,500 lawsuits from survivors of sexual assault who had been unable to sue over alleged abuse that happened many years ago.
It has cleared the way for a wave of headline-grabbing lawsuits against other famous men accused of sexual misconduct, including former President Donald Trump, hip hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs and the comedian and actor Russell Brand.
