The Beary Popular All-American Out Singer Performs New York City

Tom Goss' "Bears" is a gay cult classic. He'll perform it and hits from his new album this weekend at Rock Bar.

For more than fifteen years, Tom Goss has been singing his unique brand of truth. The All-American has released nine albums that have tracked his development both as a man and as an artist.

Goss grew up in Wisconsin. He wrestled in high school and college and at one point, considered a career as a teacher, but instead, entered Catholic seminary to become a priest. He left that path as he became aware of his sexuality and began dating the man who would become his husband. He began writing and recording songs, and making fun and creative music videos, long before it was possible to make them on phones. He is probably best known for his single, "Bears", a song where Goss declares his love of large furry men. It has become a gay anthem.

Tom Goss is in his forties now and his new album, Remember What It Feels Like, releasing this weekend, details where he finds himself today. It has been a tumultuous few years for the singer. He has dealt with the lows of marriage infidelity and the highs of falling in love with a new partner; followed by the lows of discovering his lover was a con man who is now serving time in prison.

He puts it all out there in Remember What It Feels Like. The album contains fifteen rock, pop, and ballad songs. Featured artists include comedian and musician Deven Green, hip hop artist Maya La Maya, and chanteuse Anne Reburn. Goss's longtime collaborator de ROCHE is also on the album and she will join him on stage this weekend at Rock Bar.

“The truth is, most things in life are completely out of our control,” Goss explains from his LA home. “The only thing we can control is how we feel in the moment.”

He says his goal with Remember What It Feels Like is the same as with all of his music: to make people smile, laugh, think, and bob their head along. Tom Goss did it with "Bears" and he achieves it again in "Enemy of Good," the first single from Remember What It Feels Like. The song is exuberant and cheerful, just like the singer.

"Focus on the present," he advises fans, "because the now is always packed with goodness.”

Tom Goss performs live in concert this Sunday, July 9th, at Rock Bar, with special guest de ROCHE. Tickets are available here.
