BRONX, NY — A second member of the New York City Police Department has died from the new coronavirus, the department announced Friday.

Barr-Brown had worked for the NYPD for seven years and was assigned to the 49th Precinct Roll Call Office, where she helped ensure patrol and administrative agents were "adequately covered on a daily basis," the department said.

Barr-Brown is one of several city employees that are among the 450 New York City residents who have died so far from the coronavirus.

Dickson, 62, was a 14-year veteran with the NYPD who worked a marathon 17 days after Hurricane Sandy ravaged 1 Police Plaza in downtown Manhattan, said Police Commissioner Dermot Shea.

Irene Weiss, a 21-year veteran of the Department of Transportation, also died on Thursday, officials said.

David Perez, an investigator at the Department of Correction, and Dez-Ann Romain, a principal at Brooklyn Democracy Academyhave also lost their lives due to the virus.

"Sadly, we are sure to lose more of our colleagues, and that's painful," Mayor Bill de Blasio said Friday. "Everyone's feeling these losses deeply."

De Blasio added that some of the most senior members of the NYPD are currently fighting the disease.

As of Friday, 4,111 NYPD uniformed employees were on sick report, or about 11.4 percent of the Department’s uniformed workforce. 442 uniformed members and 70 civilian members tested positive for the coronavirus, the department said.

Those cases include more than 150 members who tested positive since Thursday, when 294 NYPD officers and 57 employees had tested positive for COVID-19.
