
Anwen Deng, a 16-year-old pianist, will give her pre-college senior recital at Juilliard on Jan 31 at 2:30pm in Paul Hall.
Anwen was born in Brisbane, Australia. She began piano at three years old and was accepted into Juilliard’s pre-college program at six, currently studying with Dr. Yoheved Kaplinsky. Anwen has received top prizes in numerous piano competitions in Australia, Poland, America, and Germany, becoming a 2025 and 2026 YoungArts winner with distinction. She has been invited to perform as a soloist with the Cleveland Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Brisbane Symphony Orchestra, Little Orchestra Society of New York, Aspen Chamber Symphony, Orchestra Lumos, and Sarasota Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Samy Rachid, Arie Vardi, David Alan Miller, and Michael Stern. Anwen has attended renowned international festivals such as Aspen Music Festival and Piano Texas, performing for acclaimed pianists, including Tamas Ungar, Angela Cheng, and Sa Chen. Anwen’s passion for music extends to composition. With numerous original pieces, Anwen pushes the boundaries of musical expression, showcasing her creativity and versatility.
