The Center at West Park will host the first major New York City screening of “Her Fight, His Name,” a documentary about Gwen Carr, the mother of Staten Island resident Eric Garner, who was killed by the NYPD in 2014, and whose death sparked a national outcry for police reform. The film chronicles how Ms. Carr channelled her grief into a yearslong fight for justice and unite with other “Mothers of the Movement” who have lost family members to police violence.

The event will also include a talkback featuring: Director Brad Bailey, Gwen Carr, Lumumba Aiknwole-Bandele, Executive Director of Communities United for Police Reform, Monifa Bandele, Director of the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, and Rev. Kirsten John Foy, Founder of The Arc of Justice.
