The James Beard Award Semifinalist® Welcomes Two All-Star Visiting Chefs

Celebrate Portugal’s Independence Day with a unique collaboration led by James Beard Award semifinalist® chef Anthony Gonçalves of Kanopi, who will be joined by two standout visiting chefs from Portugal, Michele Marques and Ruben Trindade Santos of Mercearia Gadanha and Casa do Gadanha.

The dinner offers a rare chance to experience the range of Portugal’s culinary scene today, from chef Gonçalves’ Japanese–Portuguese perspective to the deeply regional, contemporary cooking of chefs Marques and Trindade Santos. The multi-course menu will include dishes such as prawn curry, Iberian pork with clams and migas, sea bass with razor clam xerém, and desserts such as pastel de nata, maçã e poejos, and doce de ovos with yogurt ice cream. Together, these chefs will capture the layered flavors, local ingredients, and culinary richness of modern Portuguese cuisine.
