About Jiwon Yang: Jiwon Yang debuted in January 2012 at 9 years old, performing solo recitals at Mozart Hall and Kumho Art Hall in Seoul, South Korea.
Jiwon has won many awards, including 3rd Prize at the 2025 ARD International Music Competition in Munich, Germany, 3rd Prize at the 2019 Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition, 3rd Prize at the 2018 Cleveland International Piano Competition for Young Pianists, Diploma at the 2nd Grand Piano Competition in 2018, First Prize at the Dong-a concours, Young-chang concours in 2017, 2nd Prize at the Liszt concours in 2017, 2nd Prize at the 2015 3rd International Festival of Classical Music &amp; Competition for Young Pianists "Astana Piano Passion" in Kazakhstan, and 4th Prize at the 2015 1st Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians in China.
Jiwon has performed with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Camerata New York Orchestra, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Irkutsk philharmonic, the Canton Symphony Orchestra, the State Academic Symphony Orchestra, and the Astana philharmonic. She was a Salzburg Chamber Soloist in 2015. She has collaborated with Richard Owen, Sasha Scolnik-Brower, Ruth Reinhardt, Alexander Sladkovsky, and Gerhardt Zimmermann.
She has performed a solo recital at the Kumho Art Hall in November 2016 for the Kumho Foundation Prodigy Invitation Series, and a solo recital at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in February 2014. In April 2014, she performed for the Philippines Chopin Society, and for St. Paul University of Philippines in July 2013. She also performed a solo recital at Russia Irkutsk 'Stars on Baikal Festival' in September 2018. Since the Fall of 2020, Jiwon has participated in numerous Mannes Sounds Festival events. She has also given performances in numerous concert venues throughout New York, including Steinway Hall and Carnegie Weill Hall. Since 2022, she has been invited by the American Yacht Club and the New York Yacht Club to give solo recitals. In 2023, Jiwon was invited to perform a solo recital at the Frick Collection, Penn Club of New York celebrating Frederic Chopin’s 213th birthday, and at the University Club of New York. In May 2023, as a former prize winner of the Van Cliburn International Junior Competition, she was invited to Texas by the Cliburn and performed in the Lewisville Theater in Forth Worth. Every May since 2022, she has performed at the closing concert of Mannes Sounds Festival in Weill Hall, Carnegie Hall.
Jiwon graduated from the BM program at Mannes and is currently in the MM program on a full scholarship, where she studies with Richard Goode and Pavlina Dokovska. She studied under Hyoung Joon Chang in Korea and has also participated in master classes with John O’Conor, Ronan O’Hora, Christopher Elton, Thierry Huillet, Pascal Roge, Alexander Braginsky, Roberto Plano, Maxim Mogilevsky, Ekaterina Mechetina, Gerrit Zitterbart, and Hye-kyoung Seo.

Speakeasy, Die Softly is the most elaborate comedic immersive murder mystery ever performed by The Murder Mystery Company. During this killer show, guests will enjoy a three-course, family-style Italian feast in the newly renovated Sinatra Room at the legendary Carmine’s in Times Square.

The year is 1927, a time of flappers, mobsters, bootlegging, and countless seedy speakeasies.&nbsp; Come on into Lou Zar’s and shimmy to the live music of the club’s famous songstress, Lucy Morals, and her accompanist, Keys Yacar, or, if you prefer, play some casino games and win big money you can blow on “soda pop.” Unfortunately, the fun can’t last all night– the feds have been sniffing around! We need your help to flip the speakeasy into a “legitimate Italian restaurant” before the police raid the place. However, even amidst all these games, dames, and dons, someone had murder on their mind! You and your table team must help the detective solve the crime before the culprit escapes! But, beware… the killer could be anyone… even YOU!

 former head of the Justice Department’s Tax Division, Karen Kelly, 
joined Kostelanetz after more than 30 years of federal and state trial 
practice, including prosecuting tax and white-collar crime. Her practice
 at Kostelanetz focuses on representing clients in state and federal 
civil tax controversies, defending clients in government investigations,
 including in criminal tax and white-collar matters, and against state 
and federal criminal charges. Her practice includes conducting internal 
investigations, representing legal and tax professionals and their firms
 in license and regulatory matters, and complex civil and criminal 
litigation.
Karen
 most recently served at the Department of Justice as the Acting 
Assistant Attorney General and delegated component head of the Tax 
Division. In that capacity, she supervised all federal civil and 
criminal tax matters assigned to the Justice Department throughout the 
country, and more than 300 trial and appellate attorneys. What if "traditional marriage" isn't traditional at all? Turns out, the equal partnership we're advocating for in modern relationships? It’s actually more traditional than the gender roles we've come to associate with it — gender equity is the prototype. For much of human history, women were valued for their contributions as much as men, childcare was shared across the whole community, and the idea that two people alone should raise children and meet each other's every need simply did not exist. It was a series of shifts over the centuries that narrowed everything down to the two-person household we now take for granted. And within that shift, we lost something essential. Writer and cultural satirist Azie Dungey takes us on a journey through human history to reveal that our partnership ideals are closer to our ancient origins than the "traditional marriage" of 100 years ago — which, it turns out, was a blip.
Azie Dungey is a WGA-nominated writer for her work on Netflix’s Emmy-nominated comedy Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and has been a writer on shows such as Harlem (Amazon Prime), Girls5Eva (Netflix), Rutherford Falls (NBC), and Sweetbitter (Starz). She is best known as writer and star of her critically- acclaimed YouTube series Ask A Slave, a satirical critique of race and gender with over 2.5 million views. For this series she was featured on NPR, BBC World, MSNBC, New York Magazine, and The Washington Post. A graduate of Tisch School of the Arts at NYU in drama and anthropology, she has been a visiting scholar to Yale, Brown University, Columbia, and was a Fellow-in- Residence at the Center for the Study of Democracy, St Mary’s College. Azie is African American and Pamunkey/Mattaponi (Virginia Tribes) and she is committed to confronting issues of race, history, and social injustice with grace, compassion, and humor.
We will explore:
<ul><li>The resistance, challenges, and social implications we face as we attempt to return gender equality back to its roots.</li><li>How hunter-gatherer societies define gender roles within marital partnerships and family system.</li><li>How traditional courtship roles centered the female desire, and women were considered the more sexually aggressive of the gender even into the age of antiquity</li><li>How the idea of the "nuclear family" (man, wife, children) developed only 150 years ago.</li></ul>

New York remains the epicenter of merchant cash advance litigation &mdash; and 2025's landmark enforcement action is reshaping what defenses are available to business owners.
NEW YORK &mdash; Small business owners across the five boroughs are facing a wave of merchant cash advance (MCA) collection actions, and many are being sued in New York courts even when their businesses operate hundreds of miles away.
The reason is structural. Most MCA agreements contain New York forum-selection clauses buried in the fine print, funneling disputes into state Supreme Court regardless of where the business is located. Once a funder files, the timeline moves fast: New York gives defendants roughly 20 to 30 days to respond, and missing that window can result in a default judgment &mdash; followed by frozen bank accounts and restraining notices served directly on institutions like Chase and TD Bank.
What has shifted is the legal landscape underneath these cases. In 2025, the New York Attorney General's settlement with Yellowstone Capital resulted in more than a billion dollars in debt cancellation and confirmed what defense attorneys had argued for years: that many MCA products marketed as "purchases of future receivables" functioned as illegal, disguised loans.
New York courts now weigh three factors to determine whether an MCA is a true receivables purchase or a loan subject to usury limits &mdash; whether the contract contains a genuine reconciliation provision, whether the funder retains recourse if the business fails, and whether the funder bears any real risk. Where daily payments never adjust to actual revenue, courts have increasingly recharacterized the agreement as a loan, potentially triggering New York's criminal usury cap under Penal Law &sect; 190.40.
Business owners also have procedural tools. A default judgment entered through improper service or an out-of-state Confession of Judgment &mdash; a practice New York restricted in 2019 &mdash; can often be challenged with a motion to vacate under CPLR &sect; 5015.
The practical takeaway for New York business owners: the earliest stage of an MCA dispute is when the most options exist. Once a judgment is entered and accounts are frozen, defenses narrow quickly.
