On September 11, 2001, Sujo John was on the 81st floor of the North Tower when the first plane struck twelve floors above him. His pregnant wife worked on the 71st floor of the South Tower. He walked down 81 flights, reached the plaza, and was about twenty feet from the South Tower when it collapsed. He survived under the rubble; his wife had been delayed that morning and was not in the tower. He has since spoken around the world on resilience and founded YouCanFreeUs, an international human rights organization fighting modern slavery.
