Check Out MTA's July 4 Weekend Beach Subway And Bus Schedule

Subways and buses will shift to weekend service on Friday and shuttle trains to Rockaway Beach will begin that day.

NEW YORK CITY — New Yorkers primed to (safely) burn off the coronavirus blues on the beach this July 4 weekend will find more subway and bus options.

MTA announced its Rockaway Park/Beach Shuttle S train will be extended to Rockaway Boulevard starting Friday. This seasonal service runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on summer weekends and will continue through Labor Day.

Coney Island beach goers can take the D, N and Q lines to sunbathe by the boardwalk, MTA said. Beachgoers looking to take the F train should be aware the line won't go to Coney Island or Brighton Beach this weekend.

Brighton Beach goers can hop aboard the Q as usual, MTA said.

The B68 bus line is another F train alternative, because it runs parallel to the line along Coney Island Avenue and serves Coney Island and Brighton Beach, the transit agency said.

Subways citywide will operate July 3 on a Saturday schedule, meaning some lines like the B and W won't be running. Likewise, buses will run on a Saturday schedule that day, MTA said.

The following bus lines go to the beach:

  • The Bronx/Orchard Beach – Bx12
  • Brooklyn/Brighton Beach – B1, B36 and B68
  • Brooklyn/Coney Island – B36, B64, B68, B82
  • Brooklyn/Manhattan Beach – B1 and B49
  • Queens/Jacob Riis Park – Q22 and Q35
  • Queens/Rockaway Beach – Q22, Q35, Q52 SBS and Q53 SBS

MTA requires all passengers to wear a face covering.
