Citi Bike Expands To 7 Neighborhoods In NYC: See Where

The expansion adds 10 square miles of coverage, bringing Citi Bike's total service area to 86.5 square miles.

NEW YORK CITY — Citi Bike has completed a major expansion, adding more than 230 stations and 3,700 docks across seven neighborhoods in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens.

The expansion adds 10 square miles of coverage, bringing Citi Bike’s total service area to 86.5 square miles. City officials said 62% of New Yorkers now live within the system’s service area.

The rollout began in Bay Ridge and concluded in East New York, with Bay Ridge riders taking more than 75,000 trips since the first stations opened there last September.

“Riding a bike is one of the best ways to get around the city, and expansions like this one help more New Yorkers get where they need to go,” Mayor Zohran Mamdani said. “We’re making it easier for people to get to work and school, make their dentist appointments and take advantage of a museum or concert — and everything else our city has to offer.”

All new stations feature Lyft’s next-generation Pillar dock design. NYC DOT works with communities to identify station locations, while Lyft installs, operates and maintains the stations.
