Colder Weather Heading Into NYC This Week

NEW YORK CITY — Mild autumn weather in New York City appears poised for a fall.

A large cold front this week will move across the United States and bring chillier temperatures from the East Coast to the Great Plains, according to the National Weather Service.

New York City will be spared the snow predicted for states from the Rockies to the Great Lakes, but low temperatures are expected to drop in the city.

Monday saw temperatures drop from a high of 60 degrees during the day to a low of 45 degrees at night.

And the lows will drop from there.

"Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 41," Tuesday night's forecast states.

The low on Wednesday will drop to 40 degrees.

Highs also will plunge to the low 50s, more in keeping with fall weather than the recent spate of pleasant days during which jacket-less New Yorkers reveled across the city.
