NEW YORK CITY — A combative Gov. Andrew Cuomo faced 11 hours of questioning by investigators in the sexual harassment probe against him, according to a new report.

Details about the tense interrogation in Cuomo's Manhattan office were detailed in a New York Times report published Monday.

The report provided a rare look into a probe overseen by Attorney General Letitia James that threatens the three-term governor's political future.

Cuomo initially said he welcomed a probe into accusations of his improper behavior against women — which ranged from inappropriate comments, to hugs and to unwanted kissing and touching — has recently attacked its independence and fairness. Behind closed doors while being questioned, he repeatedly confronted Joon H. Kim, a lead investigator who previously sparred with the governor and his allies, according to the New York Times.

Cuomo has denied the accusations and apologized for what he said were any times he unintentionally made women uncomfortable.

James' report on the investigation's findings is anticipated by the end of summer, the Times reported. Depending on the report's conclusions, it could fuel an impeachment movement against Cuomo that began with the sexual harassment claims, but also includes questions over the state’s response coronavirus outbreaks in nursing homes and other scandals swirling around the governor.
