De Blasio's Trump-Mocking Mask Video Draws Derision
"Is this a parody?" — conservative Twitter users attacked Hizzoner's pro-face covering video parodying President Donald Trump's mask stunt.

NEW YORK CITY — Music swelled as Mayor Bill de Blasio dramatically strapped on a mask, gave a salute and turned heel into City Hall.
The performance captured in a 20-second video was a not-so-subtle dig at and parody of President Donald Trump, who returned to the White House while still stricken by coronavirus and ill-advisedly removed his mask for a balcony photo op.
"In New York City we wear our masks, proudly," tweeted New York City's official account.

But de Blasio's video touting respect rather than contempt for mask wearing didn't go over well with many, mostly-conservative, people online.
The video watched more than 1.5 million times drew a torrent of jokes at Hizzoner's expense.

More than one user replaced the rousing soundtrack with the Soviet Union's national anthem.
And stuck between the derision and many unprintable, offensive comments were some users who appreciated the message backed up by medical science — wearing a mask slows the coronavirus' spread.
Please enforce Mask law. My neighbor doesn't even wear one in the elevator. #Midtown #NYC
