Dog Killed After Hitting Third Rail On NYC Subway Tracks
The dog was electrocuted on the subway tracks at a Manhattan station.
NEW YORK CITY — A dog died after it fell onto the subway tracks and was electrocuted at a Lower Manhattan train station Monday morning, police said.
Officers found the dog on the tracks next to the third rail around 9:40 a.m. The dog was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Daily News and Gothamist, the dog was a chow chow named Meatball. It is not known how the dog ended up on the subway tracks, but it may have gotten from its owner.
