Elite NYC Private School Tuition Tops $60K: Report

At least three top-tier private schools in New York City will crack $60,000 tuition this upcoming year, according to a report.

NEW YORK CITY — A spot in an elite New York City private school next year could be more expensive than Harvard or Yale, according to a new report.

Prices at top-tier private schools such as The Spence School, Dalton and Horace Mann will top $60,000, the New York Post first reported.

Such exclusive institutions are often seen as stepping stones to Ivy League universities.

But Harvard's and Yale's respective $51,904 and $59,950 tuitions this year likely won't give many private school families sticker shock after the anticipated increases.

That said, many private schools in New York City, while expensive, didn't always have such astronomical prices. The Post reported tuitions for Dalton, Horace Mann and Spence all hovered near $30,000 in 2008.
