Ellen's Stardust Diner Teams Up with Broadway Inspirational Voices to Hit the Right Notes for a Pride Partnership and Performance

Press release
Throughout Pride Month, the world-famous Diner with singing waitstaff will shine with pride, and join forces with the nonprofit and renowned choir of Broadway artists for a colorful collaboration
New York, NY – Pride will take center stage at Ellen’s Stardust Diner in true theater fashion by teaming up with Broadway Inspirational Voices (BIV), a nonprofit and renowned choir composed of diverse Broadway performers changing lives through the power of music and service. Throughout the month of June, 20% of sales of Ellen’s Pride-themed menu items including its signature rainbow cake ($12) and a special limited-time “Over the Rainbow” milkshake ($22) purchased at the diner will go to BIV to help the organization continue programming focused on community outreach, music education, and collaborative projects that bring the joy of music and the arts to underserved populations.

“At Ellen’s we’re all about music, theater and celebrating joy, so we’re beyond thrilled to be working alongside BIV for this year’s Pride Month partnership,” said Ellen Hart, Founder of Ellen’s Stardust Diner. “Music helps inspire and bring people together, and we’re excited to have a front row seat to some dazzling performances by such a talented group of artists right here in our diner.”
Ellen’s and BIV sit at the crossroads of Broadway. The Times Square diner is home to the world-famous singing waitstaff, the Stardusters. Many have started their career at Ellen’s and have gone onto Broadway, Off-Broadway and TV, with credits including Hair, Wicked, Aladdin, Legally Blonde, Kinky Boots, The Lion King, and American Idiot among others. BIV’s ensemble of actors, artists and musicians have also graced stages from Broadway and Off-Broadway shows including but not limited to Chicago, Hamilton, Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia!, MJ the Musical, Shrek: The Musical, The Color Purple, Phantom of the Opera, Tina – The Tina Turner Musical, and more.

Founded by Michael McElroy in 1994, BIV just held its 30th anniversary gala with a theme of “Choose Yes!” for the year, applauding all of the “yeses” throughout the organization’s history that brought it to where it is today.
"Music is our gift and our service. In the 90s, the AIDS crisis greatly impacted the Broadway community, and as artists, we knew we had the ability to heal this community through songs of hope and inspiration,” said BIV Artistic Director and GRAMMY nominee Allen René Louis. “We’ve seen the power that music can have in bringing hope, joy, and comfort, and Ellen’s Stardust Diner understands that too, which is what makes this the perfect partnership. We’re honored to work with the Ellen’s team to raise funds and awareness of our programs so that we can continue to provide for the next generation of artists to come."
In addition to the month-long initiative, Ellen’s Stardust Diner will be hosting a press opportunity on Thursday, May 29th at 11 AM that will include special showstopping performances from BIV and the Stardusters, along with public remarks.
Located at 1650 Broadway, Ellen’s Stardust Diner is open 365 days a year from 7 am to midnight every day.
