Enjoyed NYC's Sunny Weather This Week? Prepare For April Showers

NEW YORK CITY — Flowers bloomed, the sun shined through clear blue skies and spring truly arrived in New York City this week.

Now, get ready for some April showers.

Rain is in the city's forecast this weekend, according to the National Weather Service. A 20 percent chance of showers Friday after 1 p.m. will start a four-day stint of potentially wet weather.

Saturday during the day likely will stay dry, although it'll stay cloudy, according to the forecast. Then showers could return late that evening and especially early Sunday morning, the forecast states.

"Showers likely, mainly after 8am," Sunday's forecast states. "Cloudy, with a high near 63. Southeast wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible."

The wet weather likely will continue through Monday, according to the forecast.
