Eric Adams Downs Two Beers Before Noon For St. Patrick's Day

"Perhaps," one Twitter user suggested, "he is starting too many days with more than one."

NEW YORK CITY — Top o' the morning, all Irish and wannabe Irish New Yorkers who pounded Guinness after they woke up on St. Patrick's Day — the mayor is one of you.

Mayor Eric Adams downed two beers Thursday before noon and the St. Patrick's Day Parade, according to widely circulated tweets and reports.

The mayor's pub crawl included pints at Connolly's in Midtown and the Pig N Whistle, where a reporter's video shows Adams confirmed his morning brew had not been coffee.

"Lmao," tweeted @edensbrother. "It’s not even 11am here."

The mayor quipped he is to be called Eric O'Adams.

Patch readers familiar with terms such as "Tiocfaidh ár lá" and "Up the Republic" will know there is no reason to add that O.

"Eric Adams ... already has the same surname as [former Sinn Féin president] Gerry Adams," noted Twitter user Karl McDonald.

"[He] did not need to adopt the etymologically incoherent and grammatically unlikely form O'Adams to express his solidarity."

If Adams needs to brush up on his Irish history, he's certain to get an A for partying.

"This is a city of nightlife," Adams told host Stephen Colbert in his first late-night appearance after being elected in November. "I must test the product."

Some New Yorkers wondered whether the boozy breakfast usurped the vocal vegan's famous morning smoothies.

"I would have thought he would have gone with the kale and kiwi smoothie on St. Patrick's Day," tweeted @MGJohnson24, also known as "Mike from Queens."

Rest assured, Mike from Queens — this Guinness consumption came "right after" a smoothie, Adams told a Post reporter.

Other Twitter users wondered whether Guinness fit with Adams' plant-based diet.

"Guinness is not vegan :)," tweeted @tcdive.

Patch Fact Check:

Guinness used to include trace amounts of fish bladder from the famous brew's filtration process, the New York Times reported. That fishy formulation might not have bothered Adams, who recently copped to occasionally eating fish, but Guinness has been bladder-free since 2016 and, thus, vegan, the Times reports.

While many New Yorkers appeared to indulge Adams' morning Guinness consumption with good humor, it appears the luck of the Irish wasn't with him for others.

"Perhaps he is starting too many days with more than one Guiness (sic)," tweeted @mlg5420. "Mayor Adams hasn’t been very impressive in the roll out."

At least one mayoral watcher wondered what this presaged for how Adams will celebrate other alcohol-heavy holidays.

"Based on Eric Adams performance this St. Patrick’s Day I think we are really in for something special on Cinco De Mayo," tweeted magazine writer Chris Crowley.

"I’m betting he stumbles out of a Rosa Mexican at noon, sombrero clad, seven margaritas deep."
