Ernie Anastos, Longtime NYC News Anchor, Dies At 82: Reports
Anastos was a news anchor at three different television networks in New York City during his career.
NEW YORK CITY — Ernie Anastos, a longtime news anchor in New York City, has died at 82, according to multiple reports.
The news anchor died on Thursday due to pneumonia at Northern Westchester Hospital, his wife told CBS News.
Anastos was known for his 11-year tenure as a new anchor for Eyewitness News on ABC7 New York from 1978 to 1989.

He then moved to Channel 2, WCBS-TV, in 1989. At the network he covered the 9/11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.
The legendary news anchor also worked for FOX5 and was the evening news anchor for the 5 and 10 O’Clock News until 2019.

He left Fox5 to enroll at Harvard Business School. After his television career he developed the program "Positively Ernie."
During his career, Anastos earned 30 Emmy Awards and nominations.
