Ex-Lieutenant Says NYPD Helped Trumps Get Gun Permits: Report
A former cop facing bribery accused the force of doling out favors to VIPs, the Daily News reported. Police deny his claims.

NEW YORK CITY -- An ex-NYPD lieutenant who has been charged with bribery accused the License Division of doling out favors to President Donald Trump, his son Donald Trump Jr. and Michael Cohen, according to a Daily News report.
Former lieutenant Paul Dean accused the NYPD unit of helping bigwigs get gun permits in documents filed to Manhattan Criminal Court Wednesday which detail alleged favors, denied by police, granted by powerful people within the force, the Daily News reports.
Dean provided a long list of beneficiaries that include Donald Trump, Tracy Morgan, John Catsimatidis, late Fox News CEO Roger Ailes and host Sean Hannity and others were beneficiaries of NYPD assistance, according to the report.

Hannity denied the claims through a spokesperson, who stated the Fox News host gained his gun permit through the proper channels, shortly after joining the network in 1996.
Dean also said he was told "to take care of" a businesswoman who frequently visited police headquarters with clients and of whom a former deputy inspector said, "this person takes care of Mayor de Blasio."

NYPD captains union head Roy Richter and a police spokesperson both denied the claims to the Daily News.
“The document is riddled with false assertions and comes from an admitted felon who sold his shield for personal gain,” Richter reportedly said. “I am confident the U.S. attorney cut nobody a break.”
