Cyclists who registered were slated to pick up their packets Friday and Saturday. Only riders vaccinated were allowed to pick them up from indoor locations — unvaccinated had a special pickup.
Weather might not cooperate with the tour this year. New York City could well face wet and windy weather from a glancing blow from Tropical Storm Henri.
But, assuming riders and tour organizers are fine with the weather, the tour will begin in four waves starting at 7:30 a.m. in Lower Manhattan.
The route will then take cyclists up through Midtown and past the east edge of Central Park before crossing into the Bronx and back from the Madison Avenue and Third Avenue bridges. They'll then cruise down the East River along FDR Drive before crossing the Queensboro Bridge into Queens.
In Queens, the tour route will take riders north into Astoria Park before riding along the Brooklyn waterfront all the way down to the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and into Staten Island. The route will end near the Staten Island Ferry terminal.
The total ride is 40 miles.
