Andrew Cuomo Charged With Forcible Touching
The misdemeanor sex crime charge against the former New York governor may have been filed in error, according to reports.

NEW YORK CITY — Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo could face a forcible touching charge months after a sexual harassment scandal toppled the once-lauded politician.
A criminal complaint filed Thursday in Albany levied the misdemeanor sex crime against Cuomo, the Associated Press reported.
Details about the complaint were scant and confused Thursday afternoon — the Times Union reported the summons was filed erroneously and prematurely as local sheriff's investigators continue a probe into Cuomo.

But the complaint as filed indicates the probe is centered around a Dec. 7, 2020 incident in the governor's Executive Mansion in Albany. A woman, whose name is redacted, accused Cuomo of putting his hand under her shirt.
The account lines up with accusations from Brittany Commisso, an executive assistant for Cuomo, who said the former governor slid his hand up her blouse and grabbed her breast.

Cuomo denied the accusation.
“I would have to lose my mind to do such a thing," he said at one point.
But Commisso's accusation was one of 11 sexual harassment or assault claims detailed in a bombshell 165-page report by Attorney General Letitia James' investigators.
The ensuing political storm ultimately led to Cuomo's resignation, even as he continued to deny the accusations.
"The most serious allegations made against me had no credible factual basis in the report, and there is a difference," he said during his resignation.
Cuomo's attorney Rita Glavin has also continued to try to poke holes in the report, and claimed James was biased because she harbored political ambitions for Cuomo's job.
James, who hails from Brooklyn, is on the verge of announcing a run for governor, The City recently reported.
Cuomo's resignation did directly affect New York City in several ways. His spiteful rivalry with Mayor Bill de Blasio ended — at least in terms of governance — and new Gov. Kathy Hochul has apparently worked well alongside the mayor on issues such as Rikers Island.
Large infrastructure projects in the city touted by Cuomo such as the proposed and controversial LaGuardia AirTrain are now in limbo, if not scrapped altogether.
