Gloomy Weather, Rain Showers To Hit NYC This Weekend: Latest Forecast

NEW YORK CITY — While Friday was relatively dry, the city is expected to be hit with a burst of wet weather Saturday into Sunday, forecasters said.

Cloudy skies and fog will hit the area Friday night and stick around most of the day Saturday.

Fog and some drizzle will affect most of Saturday, and temperatures will hover in the 50s, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday night through Sunday, the pressure gradient over the area increases as a strong cold front
approaches from the west.

As the front approaches and moves through, the region is expected to get moderate to heavy rainfall, forecasters said.

Sunday night is where the city could be hit with showers and thunderstorms, with rainfall expected to continue into the overnight hours of Monday. Temperatures on Sunday will hit around 59 degrees.

Areas of drizzle and fog before 11 a.m. Cloudy, with a high near 54. Southeast wind, 6 to 9 mph.

Saturday Night

A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 2am. Areas of fog. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 49. South wind, 9 to 14 mph.

Sunday

A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 5pm. Cloudy, with a high near 62. Breezy, with a south wind of 20 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 41 mph.

Sunday Night

A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm between 8pm and 2am, then showers after 2am. Steady temperature around 59. Breezy, with a south wind of 15 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 43 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

A 50 percent chance of showers before 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 53 by 4pm.
