So … during this recent July 4th heat wave Mamdani & company said there would be cooling centers & vans. Many cooling centers it was implied. Upon reviewing online many of these CCs were for “older adults only”! And, libraries usually used as CCs were closed Friday, Saturday & Sunday for the July 4 holiday.
So, the fix? One library in each borough was open, to my understanding. Couldn’t make it up to Harlem for the one open library CC? Or, didn’t want to enter & stand on the oven hot subway platform? Well, make it out to the Javits center out in Hudson yards!
Lastly, anyone out there take a photo of those “cooling vans”missing all those passed out on the sidewalks??
