Choosing a health insurance plan that works best for you and your family can sometimes feel overwhelming. But don’t worry — we’re here to help. As you start to make your health plan decisions, consider the following questions to help you find a plan that’s best for you.
1. What type of health coverage is right for me?
Think about what health care services you and each family member might need in the coming year. For example:
- Do you see a doctor regularly for a health condition?
- Do you take medications on a regular basis?
- Are you expecting a baby, plan to have a baby or have kids who need coverage?
- Do you have a planned surgery coming up?

2. Is my doctor in the network?
At EmblemHealth, our plans include top hospitals and doctors throughout New York and the tri-state area. Visit our Find a Doctor page to find a doctor in our network for your primary and specialty care needs. Many of our benefit plans include Teladoc®, a service that allows users to talk with a doctor 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Members whose plans include Teladoc® may not have to pay regular cost-sharing (the share of costs covered by your insurance that you pay out of your own pocket).
3. Is my medicine covered and how can it be delivered?
Health plans have drug lists (also called formularies) of the prescription medicines that they cover. EmblemHealth provides a way for you to check the price of a specific drug, and can help you decide which prescription delivery option is best for you. Whether you want delivery to your home or from a local network pharmacy, we have you covered. Through Express Scripts, you can have up to a 90-day supply of your approved long-term medications mailed right to your home. Our partner, Medly Pharmacy, also offers in-home delivery, in some cases on the same day, in New York City, Long Island and New Jersey.

4. What health benefits should I expect from my plan?
At EmblemHealth, we care about your health and well-being. Members who qualify can take advantage of a variety of special offers on health products and services, from registered dietitians, to acupuncture, hearing care, massage therapy and more.
Our EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care centers offer free health and wellness classes for the entire community. You don’t need to be a member to participate, and we have virtual monthly classes such as yoga, meditation, healthy eating and meal prep, and diabetes management. Check out our upcoming events here; and if you can’t make a class, you can watch many of our virtual classes whenever works best for you.
5. Will I have customer support?
In addition to a dedicated customer service team, EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care provides in-person and virtual one-on-one customer support to help you:
