Alexander Rodriguez, best known for hosting the popular LGBTQ podcast “On the Rocks,” will be in Manhattan for one night only on March 18th, presenting Unsung Midler, his new cabaret show featuring Divine Miss M songs, performed in his own unique style. The show is a delightfully funny and touching romp through Rodriguez's own life. He shares outlandish, personal stories that are from the heart, yet often hard to believe, and pairs them with the lesser known and rarely performed songs from Ms. Midler's extensive repertoire.

“Alexander Rodriguez takes audiences on a sultry, sometimes sentimental, and always sassy journey through a catalog of his personal Midler favorites,” says Palm Springs' KGAY 106.5 Radio. The Los Angeles Times calls Rodriguez a “truly gifted singer.”

The evening is full of laughs, tears, some bad jokes, and plenty of cocktails.

Mr. Rodriguez says he fell in love with Bette Midler and her work at a very early age. He recalls his mother ending her long work week belting Midler songs, many with lyrics too mature for her son’s young ears.

Bette Midler was Alexander Rodriguez's first celebrity concert, an experience that left an indelible mark on him. Her music often served as a backdrop at key points in his life including leaving home for college, coming out as gay, and his Hollywood career.

In addition to his nationally syndicated weekly talk show, Alexander Rodriguez is a journalist who interviews celebrities for several LGBTQ publications. He is also an in-demand emcee of LGBTQ events and Pride celebrations.

As a stage performer, Alexander Rodriguez began his singing career as a cantor at churches in Southern California, including the Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano, where his mother often accompanied him on the piano. He has since performed at Segerstrom Center for the Arts, Upright Citizen’s Brigade’s Inner Sanctum, ESpot, Don’t Tell Mama in Los Angeles and New York, Rage Nightclub, and Rockwell Table & Stage.

Alexander Rodriguez stars in Unsung Midler, taking place at Green Room 42 on March 18th @ 7pm. Tickets available here.
