The gathering represents an important milestone in the Chamber’s development and its commitment to becoming a leading voice for minority small businesses throughout New York City and beyond.
A New Voice for Minority Small Businesses in New York City
Established in November 2023, the New York City Minority Small Business Chamber of Commerce, Inc. was created to foster trade, commerce, entrepreneurship and economic development while addressing the challenges faced by minority-owned businesses.
Under the leadership of Founding President Phil Andrews, the Chamber seeks to strengthen the connections between minority entrepreneurs, government agencies, corporations, financial institutions and organizations that provide critical business-development resources.
Andrews, who also serves as President of the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc., brings extensive experience in business advocacy, economic empowerment, organizational development and community leadership. He was recognized as a 2019 Small Business Champion by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
The Chamber’s introduction to the broader New York City business community builds upon its September 2026 soft launch in Queens and its continuing efforts to establish a regional platform for business growth, advocacy and economic opportunity.
Building Bridges Across Communities and Industries
The November 4 networking event will bring together four organizations with complementary missions: the African American Small Business Foundation, Inc.; the New York City Minority Small Business Chamber of Commerce, Inc.; 100 Black Men of Eastern New York, Inc.; and the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
Together, these organizations seek to create opportunities for entrepreneurs and professionals to develop meaningful business relationships, explore partnerships, exchange resources and support economic advancement.
The event will emphasize the importance of multicultural collaboration in strengthening New York City’s diverse business landscape.
From Networking to Economic Opportunity
The Chamber’s long-term vision extends beyond networking events. NYCMSBCC seeks to become a resource for entrepreneurs who need access to information, relationships and opportunities that can help them build stronger and more sustainable businesses.
Its priorities include expanding access to capital, strengthening supplier diversity, increasing awareness of government and corporate contracting opportunities, supporting M/WBE certification readiness, promoting business education and developing partnerships that can create long-term economic value.
The Chamber also intends to encourage businesses to think beyond traditional geographic boundaries and develop relationships throughout the New York metropolitan area and across the United States.
A Message From Founding President Phil Andrews - “New York City is one of the greatest centers of commerce in the world, and minority-owned small businesses must have a meaningful seat at the table. Our goal is to build an organization that connects entrepreneurs with opportunities, strengthens their capacity to compete and creates lasting pathways to economic empowerment. This event in the heart of Times Square is about bringing people together across cultures, communities and industries to build a stronger economic future.” Phil Andrews, Founding President, New York City Minority Small Business Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
