Homeless Man Set On Fire Near Penn Station, Suspects Still At Large

The incident happened at the corner of West 31st Street and 8th Avenue, police said.

NEW YORK CITY — Police are searching for three suspects who allegedly set a sleeping homeless man on fire outside Penn Station Monday night.

The incident happened around 8:40 p.m. at the corner of West 31st Street and 8th Avenue.

A 37-year-old man was sleeping on the sidewalk when he was set on fire by three men, according to police.

The man was taken to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center with second-degree burns and is listed in stable condition.

Police said one of the suspects was wearing a black jacket and jeans, a second individual was wearing a brown jacket and grey pants.

The final suspect had all black clothing and had shoulder-length hair.​​

Police are trying to determine a motive behind the attack.

No arrests have been made yet. An investigation remains ongoing.
