Luxury Real Estate Brothers Convicted After Women Describe Drug-Fueled Assaults

Prosecutors said dozens of women accused the brothers of rape after encounters that began at nightclubs, parties and luxury vacations.

NEW YORK, NY— Three brothers tied to luxury real estate were convicted of sex trafficking after jurors heard weeks of testimony from women who said the men used drugs, wealth and travel to lure them before assaulting them.

The verdict followed a five-week trial involving twins Oren Alexander and Alon Alexander, both 38, and their older brother Tal Alexander, 39.

Eleven women testified that one or more of the brothers sexually assaulted them.

Several said the encounters began with invitations to trips or parties before turning violent. Prosecutors said more than 60 women have accused the brothers of rape.

The women described being invited to destinations including the Hamptons, a Caribbean cruise and a ski trip in Aspen, Colorado.

Defense lawyers argued the accusers had faulty memories or financial motives. They acknowledged the brothers lived lavish lifestyles and pursued numerous women but said any sexual encounters were consensual.

Jurors began deliberating Thursday before returning guilty verdicts.

Oren Alexander and Tal Alexander worked as brokers at Douglas Elliman before launching their own real estate firm, Official. Alon Alexander worked for the family’s private security business.

The criminal case unfolded alongside about two dozen civil lawsuits accusing the brothers of sexual assault.

One of those lawsuits was filed by Tracy Tutor, a star of the Bravo reality series Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles. She alleges Oren Alexander drugged and assaulted her in a restaurant bathroom while she attended a real estate event in New York.

As lawsuits surfaced, additional women stepped forward with allegations that the brothers’ behavior toward women had circulated for years within the real estate industry.

Several trial witnesses said they believed they were drugged after accepting drinks from the brothers. Some testified they felt disoriented after less than a full drink and lost control of their bodies.

Prosecutors said the brothers often met women at nightclubs, parties and dating apps. They said the men paid for flights and luxury accommodations before assaults occurred.

One woman testified that she met the brothers at a 2012 party in a Manhattan apartment belonging to actor Zac Efron. She said she later went to a nightclub and woke up naked with Alon Alexander standing over her.

Prosecutor Elizabeth Espinosa told jurors the accusations did not revolve around financial gain. Only two accusers have filed lawsuits, she said, and both women come from wealthy backgrounds.

One witness testified that Alon Alexander raped her in Aspen in 2017 when she was 17 years old.

“I don’t want their money. I just don’t want them to have it,” she told jurors.

Another witness, Lindsey Acree, a Brooklyn artist and gallery owner, said Tal Alexander and another man raped her in a Hamptons home in 2011.

Acree said she drank less than half a glass of wine before becoming disoriented and unable to move.

She told jurors she filed a lawsuit last year despite having no financial need.

“If there’s a kid with a stick who keeps hitting people, you take their stick away,” she said. “Money is their stick, so you take it away so they can’t hurt people anymore.”

Prosecutors also presented text messages, emails and a blog post they said reflected the brothers’ attitudes about sexual encounters.

In messages shown to jurors, prosecutors said the brothers discussed smuggling drugs — referred to as “party favors” — onto a cruise ship. Investigators also said the men recorded at least one assault and shared photos of victims.
