Major NYC Subway Disruptions This Weekend: Reroutes, Closures

NEW YORK, NY— As tens of thousands of New Yorkers and visitors head to concerts, baseball games and summer events across the City, several major subway lines will operate on alternate routes or suspend service through early Monday, reshaping travel across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens.

The disruptions arrive as crowds travel to Governors Ball in Queens, Yankees-Red Sox games in the Bronx and the New York Transit Museum's annual Parade of Trains in Brooklyn.

The largest changes affect the A, C, E, G and J lines.

A And C Trains Rerouted

Until 5 a.m. Monday, Inwood-bound A trains will leave their regular route in Brooklyn and travel on the F line between Jay St-MetroTech and W 4 St-Wash Sq.

During the same period, 168 St-bound C trains will run on the F line between Jay St-MetroTech and 34 St-Herald Sq before switching to the D line and continuing to 59 St-Columbus Circle.

Transit officials scheduled the changes to accommodate signal maintenance work.

Riders traveling to High Street must use nearby York Street on the F line. Travelers heading to Fulton Street can use the M train or nearby E service at World Trade Center.

During daytime hours Saturday and Sunday, uptown A trains will also make local stops between W 4 St-Wash Sq and 59 St-Columbus Circle.

E Trains Divert Through Roosevelt Island

World Trade Center-bound E trains will leave their normal route between Queens and Manhattan until 5 a.m. Monday.

Instead, trains will travel on the F line through Roosevelt Island between 21 St-Queensbridge and 2 Av while crews perform track maintenance.

Riders can use nearby N and 7 train service in Queens and alternate F, A and C train service in Manhattan.

G Train Suspension Splits Brooklyn-Queens Route

G trains will not run between Court Square and Bedford-Nostrand Avenues until 5 a.m. Monday as crews continue signal modernization work.

The shutdown cuts service across a key Brooklyn-Queens corridor used by residents traveling between Long Island City, Greenpoint, Williamsburg and northern Brooklyn neighborhoods.

Free shuttle buses will replace trains between:

• Court Square
• 21 Street
• Greenpoint Avenue
• Nassau Avenue
• Metropolitan Avenue/Lorimer Street
• Broadway
• Flushing Avenue
• Myrtle-Willoughby Avenues
• Bedford-Nostrand Avenues

South of Bedford-Nostrand Avs, G trains will continue operating to Church Avenue approximately every 10 minutes during daytime and evening hours.

J Line Service Ends In Manhattan And Most Of Brooklyn

From 3:45 a.m. Saturday until 10 p.m. Sunday, J trains will not operate between Crescent Street and Broad Street in either direction.

Track replacement work prompted the suspension.

The shutdown eliminates J train service throughout Manhattan and across much of Brooklyn for the weekend.

Transit officials will operate free shuttle buses between Crescent Street and Myrtle Avenue. One route will make all local stops while another will run express between Crescent Street, Broadway Junction and Myrtle Avenue.

The M train will replace J service between Myrtle Avenue and Broad Street.

J trains will continue operating between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent Street every 12 minutes during daytime and evening hours.

Other Weekend Subway Changes

Several additional service changes will affect riders across the city:

Manhattan

• Uptown 1 trains run nonstop between 96 Street and 145 Street.
• Downtown A and C local trains run express between 125 Street and 59 St-Columbus Circle.

Brooklyn

• Manhattan-bound 2, 3 and 4 local trains run express between Franklin Avenue-Medgar Evers College and Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center.

Bronx

• Manhattan-bound 4 trains skip Moshulu Parkway and Bedford Park Boulevard-Lehman College.
• Dyre Avenue-bound 5 trains skip Morris Park, Gun Hill Road and Baychester Avenue for part of Saturday.
• Manhattan-bound 6 trains run express between Parkchester and 3 Avenue-138 Street.

Queens

• Jamaica-bound E and F trains skip Briarwood.
• Jamaica-bound F trains also skip Sutphin Boulevard.
