NEW YORK CITY — Verizon customers across New York City experienced disruptions to their wireless voice and data services on Wednesday.

Around 10:30 p.m., Verizon said it had resolved the hours-long outage.
“Today, we let many of our customers down and for that, we are truly sorry,” a Verizon spokesperson told CNN.
Verizon has said they will provide account credits to customers that were affected.
Other areas where significant outages were reported included New Jersey, Miami and Atlanta.
Downdetector showed that more than 175,000 Verizon customers began to report issues with their service by 12:30 p.m. — but still remained elevated later into the afternoon, sitting at nearly 57,000 as of 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Impacted users said their phones were in “SOS” mode or had other no signal messages.
A handful of outage reports for other carriers also bubbled up on Wednesday — but companies like T-Mobile and AT&T quickly confirmed online that their services were operating normally. Both suggested that their customers may be encountering issues contacting people with Verizon's service, however.
