2. Trick-or-treat, face painting, pumpkin decorating and a Halloween parade all await those brave enough to creep into Bryant Park on Oct. 31. The park's Winter Village, which opens just days earlier, will be transformed into a trick or treat scene, giving kids of all ages plenty of opportunity to show off their costumes. 4. A straphanger was beaten with his own umbrella in a random attack by a man inside a Queens subway station early Sunday morning, police said. The as-yet-unidentified stranger then hopped onto an "E" train headed north, and the victim went to Elmhurst Hospital, NYPD officials said. (Read more on Patch.)
5. A man was arrested after tossing a flammable liquid at a plainclothes New York City Police Department inside a Harlem subway station, according to officials.
