CITY HALL -- Cue the rimshot: Mayor Bill de Blasio looks up to Robert Cornegy.
De Blasio stepped up onto a small wooden platform Wednesday to honor the stature of the Bed-Stuy city councilman named the tallest politician in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records.
"Robert Cornegy brought politics to new heights," the Mayor said. "This man’s head is never in the clouds."

This reaction did not stop de Blasio from reaching for the stars with a line-up of tall jokes, which he said were prepared by staff writers, and were all "great."
"There are a lot of skyscrapers in New York City," de Blasio told reporters. "But Robert Cornegy is the only one who serves in the city council."
"He is a family man and a feminist," added the mayor. "Robert’s contributions are as giant as he is."
"I want to summarize a very heartfelt, inspirational message that Robert just gave us in these simple words: Aim high."
The Mayor argued the day should be unofficial "Tallness Awareness Day and asked, "Have you hugged a tall person today? have you helped them when they bumped their head on the subway?"
De Blasio was also sure to claim himself the world's tallest man to ever serve as mayor at 6-foot 5-inches tall.
"Even at my size," de Blasio said, "I look up to Robert Cornegy."
Ba-dum-tss.
