Memorial Day 2019: Parades In NYC
The Little Neck-Douglaston parade and the Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade are the two largest Memorial Day celebrations in New York City.
NEW YORK, NY — Across the city, neighborhoods are honoring the fallen this Memorial Day weekend, holding parades, memorial services and more.
The annual Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial Day observance will be taking place this weekend in Manhattan, but the two largest parades in NYC for the holiday actually take place in Queens and Brooklyn – the Little Neck-Douglaston parade and the Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade.
The Little Neck-Douglaston parade was founded in 1927 and is actually considered the largest of its kind in the entire country, according to secretnyc.com. The Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade is led by veterans, and 2019 will be the 152nd consecutive year the event is taking place.

The theme of the Little Neck-Douglaston parade will be, "What so Proudly We Hail." The Queens parade will celebrate the 205th birthday of the "Star Spangled Banner" poem, as well as observe the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Europe.
Former State Senator Marty Golden will serve as the Grand Marshal for the Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade.

Parade Route:
Little Neck-Douglaston: Runs along Northern Boulevard from Jayson Avenue to 245th Street
Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade: The parade begins at 78th street and Third Avenue and goes along Third Ave. to Marine Ave, up to Fourth Ave and over to John Paul Jones Park on 101st St. and Fourth Ave.
